Saving 100,000 Babies, One Record at a Time

In 2009, a group of doctors in Orlando launched the 100,000 Babies Campaign. Its goal is to improve the outcomes of premature babies through the use of electronic medical records. This information is kept in a national database - much like a huge Google spreadsheet document - allowing doctors to analyze health trends and to collaborate with others in real time. See how Orlando's Winnie Palmer Hospital is applying this approach to help its tiniest patients.

This segment will be shown on WEDU's television series Smart Health in June 2011. It is currently live on HealthyState.org.
